Mizuma, Kips & Wada Art is pleased to present our latest exhibition of Mitsuru Takeya.

Mitsuru Takeya was born in Toyama prefecture, Japan in 1980. He began his painting career when he was in his early 20s, moved by a sudden urge to paint. He has completed many works since.

His first solo exhibition was held in Tokyo (2009), where a massive number of drawings covered the whole gallery wall and stunned the viewers with its sheer volume and strength.

Numerous living creatures—monsters, human beings, plants, and many more—are drawn in the ways that remind us of scenes from childhood stories. What he evokes in the viewers through these paintings continues to capture adoring attention from people across the world and he has been reviewed positively at the overseas art fairs.

We are excited to exhibit Takeya’s impressive line of works in this exhibition. Please enjoy diving into his portrayal of the world where horror and adorably comical aspects uniquely and fantastically coexist.

We are looking forward to seeing you here.
